Clinical Experiences

Elective and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery; wound care and limb preservation.
Didactic Program
Resident Benefits
Residents are allowed to select from a list of CME courses by their PGY year. Program covers registration/travel/meals to attend conferences/training within established cost guidelines. Program provides Protective Lead, Loupes, Leaded Glasses, scrubs, white coats.
Residents are given a week off between Christmas and New Years (not all can take same week).
Meal money is possible if the resident takes overnight call. At this time, podiatry does not take overnight call and thus no meal money is provided.

Program Overview
Vanderbilt University Medical Center is a Level 1 not-for-profit Joint Commission accredited 1131 bed hospital. Vanderbilt is the only Level-1 trauma center designated by the American College of Surgeons serving both adult and children in middle Tennessee. The residency curriculum is structured into four- week block formats with 22 months on Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at both VUMC and the Nashville Veterans Administration Medical Center. Didactic training includes resident participation in cadaver labs, lectures, conferences, journal club, board review and research.
