Basic and advanced “Reconstructive Surgical Courses”, given outside the hospital, sponsored by surgical device companies. One on One work with plastic surgeons, vascular surgeons and orthopedic surgeons.
Class rank in upper 50% and MUST perform clerkship and/or visit the hospital for consideration to the program.
Our institution offers a well-rounded reconstructive, podiatric medical/surgical program. The residents cover the Wound Center and the Lower Extremity Fellow Clinic weekly, which offers continuity of patient care from the ER, to inpatient and also outpatient. Podiatry takes all ER foot and ankle trauma call, year round. The residents will gain experience handling forefoot, rearfoot and ankle trauma, both in the ER and in the OR. The residents will also manage complex Charcot foot and ankle reconstruction with the use of external ring fixation. We perform total ankle replacements at our facility. Basic and advanced reconstructive foot and ankle courses including internal and external fixation, limb salvage and practice management will be provided to the residents.
