Clinical Experiences
Additional courses, including Baltimore Limb Deformity Course, ACFAS Arthroscopy Surgical Skills Course, as well as other courses during the 3 year residency program. $3000 a year stipend for CME Courses.
High volume Reconstructive Surgery of Foot & Ankle. Trauma of Foot & Ankle. Diabetic wound care & limb salvage. Two community medical centers for elective case coverage. Typically obtain MAV Jan of 2nd year. We usually have 4-5 time the MAV of hindfoot and ankle procedures. Strong emphasis on adult reconstruction, Internal fixation, Ilizarov external ring fixation, and acute trauma.

Resident Benefits
Basic and advanced “Reconstructive Surgical Courses”, given outside the hospital, sponsored by surgical device companies. One on One work with plastic surgeons, vascular surgeons and orthopedic surgeons. The residents work alongside ACFAS approved fellows.
Applicant Requirements
Class rank in upper 50% and MUST complete a monthlong clerkship and/or frequent visitation the hospital is mandatory to be given consideration to the program.

Program Overview
Our institution offers a well-rounded reconstructive, podiatric medical/surgical program. The residents cover the Wound Center and the Lower Extremity Fellow Clinic weekly, which offers continuity of patient care from the ER, to inpatient and also outpatient. Podiatry takes all ER foot and ankle trauma call, year round. The residents will gain experience handling forefoot, rearfoot and ankle trauma, both in the ER and in the OR. The residents will also manage complex Charcot foot and ankle reconstruction with the use of external ring fixation. We perform total ankle replacements at our facility. Basic and advanced reconstructive foot and ankle courses including internal and external fixation, limb salvage and practice management will be provided to the residents.
