Program Overview
Rochester General Hospital offers a 36-month residency program accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education. Residents work closely with a team of skilled podiatric surgeons and a supportive Orthopedic/Surgical and Medical Staff. Throughout the program, residents perform a high volume of surgical procedures, often exceeding CPME requirements by their second year. We also provide additional credentialing in reconstructive rear-foot and ankle surgery, emphasizing comprehensive podiatric care—from foundational clinical experiences to advanced reconstructive techniques.
Our podiatric residency program prioritizes a hands-on, interactive teaching approach. Residents will learn through active participation rather than observation. In addition to practical experience, they engage in monthly journal clubs, case discussions, presentations, and various research opportunities. The program includes rotations in several service lines, such as internal medicine, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, wound care, radiology, endocrinology, infectious disease, behavioral sciences, pathology, and laboratory medicine. Extensive training in podiatric medicine and surgery is further enhanced by rotations in orthopedic, vascular, general, and plastic surgery.
