Salem VAMC has three active medical school affiliations with the University of Virginia, the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Virginia Tech Carilion.
SVAMC hosts a variety of different residency programs.

The program aims to have a well rounded experience; there is a heavy presence of wound care and minimal experience with pediatrics (this is a veterans hospital and exposure is obtained through outside rotations).

Must have registered with Selective Services. Background checks and Drug Screening required. BLS and ACLS will be offered at the facility.

Program Overview
The Salem VA Medical Center Residency Program is a well rounded comprehensive training program based at a large veterans hospital, which is a primary referral site for several outpatient clinics. The hospital is a full service complex medical center with adequate resources to support the educational program. The podiatry service is staffed by a large dedicated group of teaching faculty, all fully trained in comprehensive medical and surgical care of the foot and ankle. The program requires a GPA of at least 3.0 and passing of Boards Part 1 and 2 to apply.
