Program Overview
Residents will be working with both podiatric and orthopedic surgeons at Chestnut Hill Hospital. Podiatry residents scrub all ankle fractures, achilles ruptures, ankle scopes, etc. Arthroscopic ankle model available to practice freely; monthly saw bones workshops; we strive for a monthly cadaver lab. A smaller hospital environment affords opportunities for “hands on” training with attendings from vascular, plastic, orthopedic, and podiatric surgeons. Voluntary non-podiatric cases with those specialties are available. Close relationship with medical attendings such as infectious disease and radiology willing to lecture. Monthly journal club. Weekly academics includes case reviews, resident/student lectures, surgical videos, and journal article discussions. Research methodology covered in curriculum. Externs are granted ranking priority. Students are encouraged to visit
