Vanderbilt University Medical Center is a Level 1 not-for-profit Joint Commission accredited 1131 bed hospital. Vanderbilt is the only Level-1 trauma center designated by the American College of Surgeons serving both adult and children in middle Tennessee. The residency curriculum is structured in two to four week block formats with 22 months on Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at both VUMC and the Nashville Veterans Administration Medical Center. Didactic training includes resident participation in cadaver labs, lectures, conferences, journal club and hands-on research.
