2026 CRIP Information for CASPR Applicants

Per CPME requirements, “interviews must not occur prior to, or be in conflict with, interview dates established by the national resident application matching service with which the residency program participates.”

CASPR has set the following dates for interviews.

The CRIP (Centralized Residency Interview Program) in-person residency interview event is January 8-13, 2026 at the Embassy Suites in Rosemont, IL.

CRIP is divided into Session 1 and Session 2.

A program’s session is determined by its program ID. Programs with IDs beginning with 5, 6, 7, or 8 are “East” and programs with an ID beginning with 1, 2, 3, or 4 are “West.”

Ex. Program ID 699 or 0699 or 6991 is East and Program ID 299 or 0299 or 2991 is “West.”

• • Section 1 programs (West) interview January 8-10, 2026.
  • Section 2 programs (East) interview January 11-13, 2026.

Programs do not have to attend CRIP for their interviews. Participating in CRIP interviews is optional though most podiatric residency programs do attend and interview at CRIP–around 80%.

Programs not interviewing at CRIP must interview applicants from January 14 through February 16, 2026. This requirement is to be in compliance with CPME 320 requirements for residency interviews. Programs not interviewing at CRIP may interview their applicants virtually, in-person, or not at all.

COTH does recommend that, if at all possible, programs be consistent and do ALL initial interviews either in-person or virtually.

COTH further recommends that all second or callback interviews be virtual.

CRIP Scheduling Guidelines

When scheduling your CRIP interviews:

• Leave 10-15 minutes between interviews. Programs may run late, your interview may run over the alotted interview time, and you need time to locate and get to your next interview location.

• Interviews at CRIP must be scheduled between 7 am and 6 pm each day with the exception of Saturday. On Saturday, interviews must conclude by 2 pm unless a program is interviewing in a conference/meeting room or staying over at the Embassy Suites Saturday night.

• Call back interviews should NOT be conducted at CRIP. Programs wishing to interview any or all of their applicants a second time should do so after CRIP.

• Programs hosting socials at CRIP invite their guests. All non-interview events should not be scheduled to conflict with interview hours and should not start before 6 pm.

While You Are at CRIP – Navigating CRIP

You MUST check-in before your begin your CRIP interviews.

• Arrive 30 minutes before your first interview to check-in at the Walden Registration Room, located on the 8th floor to get your name badge, schedule, and registration packet.

• The Registration Room is open daily from 7 am to 5 pm. There are staff there to help you.

• The Registration Room has a lounge area with snacks and beverages for applicants at CRIP. There is a coat room to hang your jackets and a bathroom.

During CRIP, ALL changes to your interview schedule (cancellations, date/time changes) must be made through staff in the Walden Registration Room, located on the 8th floor.

Need to Reschedule or Cancel a CRIP Interview?

Before the Jan. 2 cut-off for CRIP interview scheduling, you may login to your CASPR NMS account to make changes. Once you have logged in, access the program’s interview schedule and look for an available interview slot that is compatible with your schedule and rebook.

After the January 2 lock-out date and during CRIP, you must come to the Walden Registration Room, located on the 8th floor, to make changes or cancel your interviews. We will make the change on your schedule and the program’s schedule and ask that you deliver a note to the program/s about the change—just tuck it under the door of the interview room.

NOTE:  We do not recommend cancelling your interview, even if think you are no longer interested in the program or believe a program has made you an offer (don’t believe it). You risk burning a bridge, if you cancel.

Lodging in Rosemont, IL

Applicants are responsible for their own lodging arrangements while at CRIP. Options include hotels, AirBNB and VRBO.

Parking at Embassy Suites Hotel for interviews is $15 a day, ticket must be validated at the front desk at time of departure.

Transportation From Your Hotel to the Embassy Suites

If you are staying in an area hotel, most offer free shuttles to and from the Embassy Suites. If you have an early morning interview, check with your hotel the night before to arrange an early shuttle.

Rideshare is readily available around Rosemont, IL.

Driving?  Parking is $15.00 for self-parking in the Embassy Suites Garage (Valid for Registered Overnight guests and local CRIP day only Attendees) ticket must be validated at front desk.
