Program Overview
Our well-rounded program provides exposure and training to all aspects of podiatric medicine and surgery. The curriculum has been updated and active for this academic year with an increased emphasis on podiatric medicine and surgery. Residents no longer are involved in the general surgery/trauma call schedule and instead are dedicated to podiatric call. The first year resident completes all off-service rotations as well as five dedicated months of podiatry. Second year residents have two dedicated months of orthopedic surgery with the remaining months in podiatric medicine and surgery. Third year residents are dedicated to podiatric medicine and surgery including rotations in practice management. All residents have the opportunity to work with our outstanding community podiatrists.
Podiatric residents receive an equitable training experience as to their allopathic and osteopathic colleagues. Off-service rotations consist of Vascular Surgery, Anesthesia, Rheumatology, Burn Surgery, Burn night, IM, ID, Behavioral Science, Medical Imaging, and Emergency medicine.
This is an excellent opportunity to work at a busy Level I Trauma Center as well as the internationally recognized Arizona Burn Center. A developed research curriculum starts during the first year of training to allow for completion of research / publications. Our extensive didactic curriculum is designed for board preparation and promoting life-long learning.
