Evidence of preparation for a career in medicine, and specifically a career in podiatric medicine, should also be present in each application. Candidates with strong science preparation are preferred. Attributes of successful candidates also include good time management, problem solving proficiency and a strong sense of inter- and intrapersonal communication skills. Successful candidates also have a demonstrable record of community service or good works, a strong academic record in the sciences, and are well-rounded individuals.[\/vc_column_text]

To enter a podiatric medical school, one must first complete a minimum of three years or 90 semester hours of college credit at an accredited institution. Over 97% of the students who enter podiatric medical school have a bachelor’s degree. Many have also completed some graduate study.<\/p>\n

AACPMAS Admission Procedures<\/h3>\n

AACPMAS begins processing admission applications the first Wednesday in August each year for Fall admission the following year. Deadline Dates are as follows: For priority consideration, March 1st of each year for the upcoming Fall admission. The final application deadline date is June 30th of each year for Fall admission of the same year.<\/p>\n

Other admission requirements include letters of recommendation which are to be sent directly to the podiatric medical schools, as well as personal interviews.<\/p>\n

Required Admissions Tests<\/h3>\n

Traditionally the MCAT has been the only standardized test required for admissions to the podiatric medical schools. MCAT exams taken more than three (3) years prior to application are NOT ACCEPTABLE.<\/p>\n

The American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine Application Service (AACPMAS) allows podiatric medical applicants to use a single web-based application and one set of transcripts to apply to all eleven of the schools and colleges of podiatric medicine.<\/p>\n

Applicants complete one application and submit it with corresponding materials to the centralized service. AACPMAS verifies the application’s components for accuracy, calculates the applicant’s grade point average (GPA) and delivers the materials to the podiatric schools and colleges that the applicant designates.<\/p>\n

For the 2024 AACPMAS cycle, the fee for the initial application and first designated college is $200. An additional $65 is added for each additional designation at the time of submission.[\/vc_column_text]
